Saturday 2nd July 2016 saw a group of COMAST swimmers brave the elements to endure a training session like no other as Manchester hosted the Skittles 5k Colour Run. In true Northern tradition the weather was harrowing. However, this did not dampen the spirit of a team that included equally heroic parents.
The team was raising money and running in support of fellow swimmer Rosie Mcaulay who is a member of the Matt Walker Disability Academy. Rosie and the team were aiming to raise the funds in order to purchase a specialist wheelchair that would allow Rosie to exercise and compete in a variety of sporting disciplines and help her to achieve her goal of becoming a P.E. Teacher.
The passing kilometres were accompanied by amazing music, super cool selfies and shed loads of colour. As each COMAST swimmer crossed the finish line there was an undeniable smile across their faces, leaving them with one last hurdle for the day…getting home without staining dad’s car!
Well done to the whole COMAST Team…parents, swimmers and coaches!
