Alana Hedges took part in the Open Water British Championships on Sunday 25th September, and won a superb silver medal in the 17/18 years age group in Hyde Park, London.
Organised by London Marathon Events, the Swim Serpentine festival is a two-day event held in and around the beautiful Serpentine in Hyde Park, the venue for the open water swimming competition at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The inaugural 2016 Swim Serpentine concluded on the second day with the action-packed British Open Water Swimming Championships.
The day got off to a damp start but the sunshine soon emerged, taking the water temperature to over 17°C. The calm and clear conditions provided swimmers with the perfect environment for competition
Alana had a fantastic race swimming two laps of the lake, totalling 3.3km, maintaining her position throughout to bring home the Silver medal in a time of 43 minutes and 23 seconds.
